Physical Education

“Sport has literally changed my life. I’m here because of sport. It has given me a lot of confidence, a lot of courage, and a lot of discipline. It’s helped me to be the person that I’ve grown to be today.”

Serena Williams (Tennis Player)

P.E at Warfield

At Warfield, we believe that physical education should take place in a safe and supportive environment. We recognise that PE is a unique and vital contributor to pupils’ physical development and well-being. Our broad and balanced PE curriculum is designed to build pupils’ self-confidence as they learn to manage themselves and their bodies in a variety of movement situations. Progressive learning objectives, combined with thoughtful and varied teaching approaches, aim to provide stimulating, enjoyable, satisfying, and appropriately challenging learning experiences for all pupils.

We are fortunate at Warfield to have the support of two specialist PE coaches who assist teachers during PE sessions and support children at the many sporting events offered by Bracknell Forest. As a result of this additional adult support, we are able to offer a range of extra-curricular clubs for all age groups throughout the year.

How we deliver our curriculum

We are committed to delivering a high-quality, inclusive PE curriculum that inspires all pupils to succeed and enjoy being active. We use the Complete PE scheme to provide structured, progressive lessons that develop physical skills, teamwork, and a lifelong love of sport and physical activity. To further strengthen our provision, we are supported by two qualified sports coaches who work alongside class teachers to deliver high-impact lessons. This collaborative approach not only enhances the quality of PE teaching but also builds staff confidence and ensures consistency across the school. Together, we aim to provide every child with positive, meaningful PE experiences that support their physical and emotional well-being.

How we support everyone to learn

We believe that all children can benefit from Physical Education and should have equal access to opportunities that develop their physical, social, and emotional skills. Our inclusive approach to PE is rooted in the belief that every child can succeed and feel valued, regardless of ability or background. We are committed to creating a safe, supportive, and motivating environment where all students are encouraged to participate and thrive. To remove barriers to participation, we adapt activities and instruction to meet individual needs—this includes modifying rules, offering varying levels of challenge, using assistive technologies, and providing personalised support. Our teachers and qualified sports coaches use a variety of teaching styles, grouping strategies, and accessible resources to ensure lessons are inclusive, engaging, and enjoyable. Staff are trained to identify and support pupils with additional needs and continue to receive professional development to enhance their practice. We also work closely with families to identify and overcome any challenges to participation, and we celebrate the achievements of all pupils to promote confidence and a love of physical activity.
