Welcome to Year 3! We hope that you and your families had a wonderful summer break.
We are delighted to welcome you to Year 3 and cannot wait for the exciting year ahead. Together, we will learn, grow and support one another as we develop our confidence, curiosity and kindness.
Our new topic this term is ‘Back to the Stone Age!’ In History, we will travel back in time to learn about life during the Stone Age, Bronze Age and Iron Age. In Geography, we will explore mighty mountains and fascinating volcanoes.
We will enjoy reading lots of fantastic texts, including The Nothing to See Here Hotel and The Firework-Maker’s Daughter. In Maths, we will begin by developing our understanding of place value and number.
In RE, we will explore the question: ‘How might beliefs and community shape a person’s identity?’ Our PSHE topics will include families and relationships, and citizenship. Throughout all our learning, we will encourage the children to show our Christian values and to treat one another with kindness, compassion and respect.
Important information
- Home folders: These will be sent home each day and must be returned to school every morning. Please ensure that your child’s Reading Record is kept inside.
- Spelling: We will be starting at step 1 from Monday 7th September for spellings.
- Allergy information will be displayed on the door leading to the playground.
- Login information will soon be placed inside your child’s Reading Record.
- Please do not send bags larger than book bags. Our classroom storage space is limited and larger bags are usually unnecessary. Packed-lunch boxes and water bottles are removed from bags when children enter school, so a book bag is large enough to carry everything they need between home and the classroom.
- Please ensure that all your child’s clothing and belongings are clearly named.
- On PE days, children should arrive at school wearing their Warfield PE uniform. Earrings must be removed or securely taped before arriving at school.
