 Our Learning

We are excited to share our first Autumn topic 'Groovy Greeks' with you. We will be learning about Ancient Greece, including who they were and where they lived, what their beliefs were, and how their lives influence life in modern-day Britain. We will also be looking at Gods and myths, including the Twelve Olympians, constellation origins, and famous people and their achievements.

Our R.E. focus for this half-term is further exploring Christian beliefs, posing the question 'What does it mean if God is loving and holy?'. In PSHCE, we will be learning about ways to manage our health and wellbeing, focusing on the importance of rest, relaxation and elements of online safety.

Our maths learning will focus on place value, before looking at addition and subtraction. In English, we will be writing our own time-travel stories as well as creating persuasive leaflets for Ancient Greece. We will be reading ‘Who Let the Gods Out?” as our class novel, linking to our overarching Greeks topic.

Important Information

P.E. Days will be Wednesday and Friday. Please wear P.E. uniform to school on these days, and ensure you are up to date with our uniform policy, including the removal of earrings for PE. An up to date copy of the uniform policy can be found here: https://www.warfieldprimary.co.uk/School-Uniform/

Paper copies of our home learning activities are sent home at the beginning of each half term. An online version has been uploaded to our webpage too.

We will teach spelling rules at the beginning of each week and complete a dictation session on a Friday, which may use some of the suggested words from the Spelling Pattern List. We are starting on Step 1: the suffix 'ous'. The overview can be found in our files.

No bags larger than book bags please. Bags take up a lot of space and are usually empty. Packed lunch boxes and water bottles are removed from bags on entry to school, a book bag is large enough to contain the items needed to travel to and from the classroom. Please ensure your child does not have any keyrings on their bag.

Please ensure your child’s clothing, including coats, jumpers, hats and scarves are all appropriately labelled with your child's name so that we are able to return these to you as easily as possible.

Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions or queries.
